BlackHawk Operations
San Juan Basin
The Jicarilla Apache Nation is situated along the eastern and southern portions of the oil and gas productive San Juan Basin. This basin is one of the most prolific gas producing basins in North America with nearly 40,000 wells drilled here since 1922. Thousands of these wells have been drilled on the Jicarilla Apache Nation with nearly 2,200 wells still producing oil and gas across the Nation.
What We Do
We create opportunities to provide sustainable energy solutions.
We develop renewable energy projects through the use of our natural resources like oil and gas to preserve our environment.
We ensure our projects not only benefit the environment but also create opportunities for our people.
Commodities
Continuous monitoring of the oil and gas commodities markets is critical to our industry so we can forecast revenues and plan for our new drilling programs. Since BlackHawk is wholly owned by the Jicarilla Tribe, the wells we drill and produce on reservation lands can still be economical with $40 oil and $2.50 natural gas since our shareholder owns the land, minerals, and royalties obtained from all oil and gas production. Unlike other operators, BlackHawk can still operate profitably on reservation lands during the down cycles in the commodity markets due to our holistic economic modeling.
